Spring 2025

Spring 2025

Very excited to announce that the Eric Ericson Chamber Choir was recently awarded the Preis Der deutschen Schallplattenkritik (choral category) for their Salvage Man album, containing the Nelson setting of Emma Lazarus’ The New Colossus!

This spring will also see the fourth performance of the Chaplin Songs,  this time with star soprano Camilla Tilling accompanied by Gävle Symphony Orchestra and led their chief conductor Christian Reif.

Other noteworthy performances include the Nordic Chamber Ensemble who are premiering and touring a new, extended version of  Miz Melody in celebration of their 40-year anniversary. The original Miz Melody was the first commission that Nelson ever received as a professional composer, and the first commission in a long string of collaborations that he has shared with the Nordic Chamber Orchestra and Ensemble during the past 28 years.

The highlight of this season will be the world premiere of  The Rave Chronicles for self-playing piano and orchestra, a commission from NorrlandsOperans SO. The work was inspired by George Antheil’s Ballet Mecanique and other futurist compositions, but set into a more contemporaneous context. It will be given its first performance on 25 April, led by conductor Patrik Ringborg.
